Original Woodblock Print / Monoprint
‘Layers 1’ is comprised of multiple hand-pressed tree ring ink impressions made from the end grain cross section of various downed trees found in various locations between Asheville, NC, Spartanburg, SC and as far as Richmond, Va. and printed on archival paper using traditional printmaking methods. This print is part of a larger evolving body of work that honors the trees around us and our deeper connection to nature.
This print is also a Monoprint, meaning it is one of one prints made in this style and arrangement making it truly one of a kind. This print is also permanently mounted onto a wood panel and looks like much like a raw canvas when having flat against a wall and was recently featured in an Exhibition at the Spartanburg Art Museum in Spartanburg, SC showcasing artists displaced by Hurricane Helene.
