About the Artist
Based in Asheville, NC, Red Bison Print Co. is the printmaking and letterpress studio of artist Geneva Puryear who specializes in original hand carved block prints and personalized letterpress paper goods.
Red Bison Print Co has been the on-going passion project turned small business of artist Geneva Thetford Puryear. Originally from Ashland, VA, Geneva began her printmaking career while studying art at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, where she received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Printmaking.
Geneva works primarily in relief block printing, creating both hand carved woodblock and linocut prints. Through her work, she seeks to evoke a visual language that puts heavy emphasis on bold contrasting use of color, texture and movement.
Geneva is also a working photographer and college level educator and enjoys dabbling in other passion projects such as natural ink making, small batch paper making and illustration.
